Self-Care Strategies that Actually Work
Let’s be real—self-care can be really tough. And, what’s realistic for you may not be realistic for someone else. And, that is totally okay! We all have our own strengths and struggles.
No matter what you are dealing with, here are 4 strategies that I hope will help you to take better care of yourself! Because, you deserve it!
1. Habit Stacking: Pair self-care activities with existing habits or routines. For example, practice deep breathing while waiting for your morning coffee to brew.
2. Break It Down: Break self-care activities into small, manageable steps. Start with one small change and build from there. Choose something you are 80% confident you can accomplish, even on a bad day.
3. Set Boundaries: Learn to say no to things that drain your energy or don't align with your priorities. Saying no to others means saying yes to yourself.
4. Schedule It In: Treat self-care like any other appointment and schedule it into your day. Whetherit's a 10-minute walk during yourlunch break or a relaxing bath before bed, prioritize time for yourself.
This week, choose one self-care practice that resonates with you and commit to incorporating it into your daily routine. Whether it's taking a 10-minute walk outside, calling a friend, or saying no to something that doesn't serve you—prioritize your well-being and notice the impact it has on your life. And, don’t forget to use one of these strategies that can help you accomplish your self-care goal!
***And remember: Self-care is essential, but it's not always easy. It's okay to feel overwhelmed or skeptical about self-care. Give yourself permission to prioritize your needs and take care of yourself, even if you don’t feel like it.
All the best,
Jayne
