The Power of And

Our emotions are a natural part of life. But, just because they are valid, doesn’t mean they have to control us. We can do what matters - even if we don’t feel like it or it’s hard.

So, here’s a gentle reminder:

  • You can feel guilt and still prioritize your own needs.

  • You can feel angry and choose to act calm and in control.

  • You can grieve and still experience moments of joy.

  • You can feel anxious and still do hard things.

  • You can have low motivation and accomplish your goals.

  • You can struggle with perfectionism and go easy on yourself.

Remember, acceptance isn’t about giving in or being passive. it is about acknowledging our experiences with kindness, and choosing how we want to respond. We can hold space for our emotions and live a meaningful life.

Being human is messy, complicated, and beautiful. And, we can make room for it all. So the next time you are feeling all the feels, try this out: “I can feel ___ and still do ____”. For example, if you are feeling guilty for prioritizing your own needs, you can say to yourself “I am feeling guilty and I am setting an important boundary”. Embrace the power of AND and experience life in all of it’s richness.
